From Frederick Pollock to G. H. Darwin 10 April [1876?]

Bryanston St | W.

April 10

My dear Darwin

Thanks for your note— I am glad you give a fairly good account of yourself.

The promises I have already received are for various sums between £5 and £25—and in some cases for as much more if wanted. The total sum I think I mentioned—but I may repeat for greater certainty that we want about 400 and can by this time count on about 300—

Your father's name & assistance will be a great addition to our forces.

C. will take it the more kindly for seeing that it is distinctly being done ""in the name of the tribe"" and by the people who ought to know best who deserve to be helped as deserving well of it—

Yours truly | F. Pollock

I don't know about the May term: unless perhaps there shd be occasion for conference about the Cambridge University Bill.— Oxford people are going to hold a meeting 27th inst. in London—which was intended to be joint, but time pressed— Ubert of Balliol has furnished me with copy proposed resolutions wh I shall send to Jackson— If you are passing through town & have time I should be glad to see you—(5 Kew Square Lincolns Inn in business hours on week days).

It is time we should bestir ourselves: proximus ardet.

F.P.
