From G. H. Darwin to W. E. Darwin [13 or 20 February 1862]

Clapham

Thursday Evening

My dear William

I am instructed by Mama to write to you for her last letter to you about the wonderful news about Godfrey. Have you heard about the grey horse getting his leg over the trace & then knocking the carriage over with Parslow Jones & all. Jones has gone to look after a place & Doobury come.

We like Wrigley very much he's an awful mathematical swell; he lives in this house & has a good deal of the management of it, and the Gov; stop in his own house more. Lenny gets on very well now, he's been rather seedy for a couple of days, but is pretty right now. The two boys sleep in a room together & I sleep near

Have you seen Punch this week there's an appendex to the Origin in it, but it isnt about Papa only about the Yankees

I remain | your affec brother | G. Darwin
