From Horace Darwin to G. H. Darwin 2 February [1867]

Clapham

Feb 2.

Dear George

The indicator did not act at all it made it out that it was only 8.77 miles there and back; but John said that it flew round when the cart went, faster it turned round 3106. We must have the wait nearer the centre & then we can put that end of the box nearer the centre of the cart weat which I did not do before; I think we can dodge it yet. The afternoon after you went there was a bonfire in the strawberry grownd, we all went up there and had some pertatoes; then we lit a little fire in the sand walk & then covered it up with moss   we though we had put it out but the next day in the afternoon there was some red hot pieces of wood & it was a very small fire.

We got here all wright & nothin has hapned except there are about 7 new fellows.

I am your affec | Brother | H Darwin
