Dear George.

I gave F your letter to read. He is getting on very well & does a great deal of work now & is much more like himself, if it holds up decently we are going to take a long walk up the Arran & good high hill. We went one expedition the other day over to see some slate quarries & were away all day, & I think F. liked it, I think that it is good for him to come out into the world again. We are going to Newtown to get some clothes & shall see some woolen manufactories there too, some day this week. I shall go & see the Festiniog 2′ railway too but F wont come for that. Mrs. Ruck & he will come home directly the parents do, he wants to be at home & at work again. Im very glad your paper is done & that it is going to the R. S. I hope you will be able to get on with the Astronomical work. F said something about going to Malta this winter in the vague, but I do’nt know whether he has really thought of it; but it shows that he might like to go abroad with you. Your plan did very well for the building; Bill did not make any alterations at all I think, but I have not heard when they will begin. Bill says that it will take a long time, & certainly wont be done before the cold weather. Im getting on with my drawing slowly, there is a lot of work in it, & I am doing it more carefully then I shd if I was not here as I want to stay here as long as Frank does, I think I make it a little better for him. I have to work out the quantities too wh. will be a grind. I shall come up to Cam. in about a months time I think. I hope Gerald gets the fellowship.

H Darwin
