Sunday

Dear George

I have written to Mrs Pleasance to get me your room ready for me on Tuesday night, I suppose it is all right. I am going up to Cam. for one night or so on Tuesday from here, to see about designing a govenor for Dew Smith. This is a most delightful place, Mr. Easton is not here which I am sorry for, we are a very small party. Mrs. E.E. her brother a Mr. Walters, and an old Prussian named Bosers, Mrs E said to me that she thought him very tiresome and I thoroughly agree with her. Mr. Walters & I have been playing lawn tennis this morning, but he is too bad to make it much fun, & now it has begun to rain, but it will only be a shower. All us gentleman live at a sort of dependence a good bit above this, from the top of we can see Knockholt Beech & Leith Hill tower, we are going to take a big telescope up there presently & look about, we are much nearer Down than I thought only about 25 miles. This is a beautiful old house built in 1598, in a beautiful place. Mr. Easton says he is going to use a waterfall he has got rather near the house, to drive a turbine & make electricity which will be taken to the house & then drive an electromotor & do useful work in the house such as cleaning knives, it is doubtful whether it will come to anything though

Yours | H Darwin

I shall be at home next Sunday hope you will be there
