From Horace Darwin to G. H. Darwin [17 July 1879]

6. Queen Anne Street, | London, W

Thursday.

Dear George,

The York affair went off quite as well as I ought to have expected, but I had expected too much, & so was disappointed; it has not altered the state of things in the least as far as the eye can see, though I think it must have done some good. Mr. Farrer was very cordial and nice, & no mention was made of the subject. I will tell you all about it when I come up though there is not much to tell.

I shall come up either on Monday by the 5 oclock train, or, if I cannot get all I want to done, I shall come up on Tuesday but I hope it will be Monday. I go home tomorrow. Will you tell Dew, & ask him to have my room ready. I felt rather low after I left Mr F. but have cheered up since.

Yours ever | Horace Darwin

I will telegraph if I do not come on Monday
