From Leonard Darwin to Elizabeth Darwin 27 May [1864]

Clapham

May 27th.

My dear Lizzy

You wrote me a very nice letter some time ago but I never answered it, I kept on forgetting to answer it

On Wednesday we were allow to go out in the evening from six till nine because it was the Derby race that day and there were crowds of people coming home, some half drunk, and we shot peas at them. There were all sorts of things going on on the common, shows swings &c. On Tuesday I went and spent the evening with a boy called Chambers, at which I did nothing particulay except eat and drink and play catch with a cricket ball

On Saturday last we went home and stayed till Monday evening I do not think any thing happened particular there. We, that is to to say the first eleven, played Kensington school at cricket.

I am your affec Brother | Leonard Darwin

NB Dear Mama as this has to pass through your hands it will do as a letter to you, for if I had to write to you I should write an exack facsimile of this

L.D.

Would you send me two Zoological Tickets by next post I may go there
