From Leonard Darwin to Horace Darwin [1872–3]

Dear Jim

I enclose you a letter from Ruck which will speak volumes. I am a mounted horse soldier with fiery black horse 16 12 hands hight. He is really a very quiet beast but is quite young and I have to pull his head clean round before it knows what I am aluding to. It is rather ruff on Ruck the way they bundle him off at a minutes notice. I have just finished my map and I have been in a cast iron rage the whole time I have been at it. A lot of young women are to tea so I must wash up

[DIAG HERE] Carried forward

Yours | Leonard Darwin
