My dear George

I must write you my congrats on your article. Ive just read it at Down & was very much struck by it. I think it very well written—good vigorous language & no verbosity & I think you have arranged your thoughts in very good order so that the train of thought, is as Uncle Ras says, very plausible in a good sense.

It will be a long time before any thing is done on the matter, but the first step is to get a hearing & I did think the Contemporary was quite the best magazine for that—It has it [illeg] a definite bad name as the Fortnightly so that a good many respectable people would read it—

I was very sorry to hear what a bad time you had had all your first ( ) of Whittinghame—but I hope you are still kepping better as poor old Brodie used to say.

The parents are gone to Abinger today I hope & trust—We all cleared out yesterday so as to prepare.
