From L. C. Wedgwood to Horace Darwin 2 May [1873]

Leith Hill Place, | Dorking.

My dear Horatio

Thank you 4 ur letter & enclosed stamps and more especially about the Physics, which will be delightful. It is very good of u to have thought of it & taken the trouble u have @ it, & I am very much obliged. It will be no use beginning anything till October now, as there’s such a small piece of this term left, but I will start upon the mathematics then & am mean while doing a little algebra from Todhunter in preparation

I hear Henrietta is positively going to send 4 a lot more Vallauris things!— I suppose the Langtons will be in England today, they were to leave Cannes on Wednesday   What a pleasant residence Possession Islands appear to stay a year at! Did you see the sketch in “Nature”? I hope they won’t send Leonard there!

I am so glad you have been better since you ve been at Cambridge. If only you can keep it up.

Your affet cousin | Lucy Wedgwood
