From ? to Horace Darwin [28 May 1873]

I return the Evidences with thanks. I think it is well writ; but is unsatisfactory to me in that it is so negative in character. It leaves me were i was before with regard to spirits; namely unable to form an oppinion. Do you know what Brookes has published & where about his investigations?

Wt. is the name of Butlers new book you only told me 2ce. at breakfast so I forgot!

I hope you continue in yr. abnormal health

on returning here I took a candle to a wd. abt. 7 miles off to look for a caterpillar in the dark. I cd. not find him so came home without.

The Evidences therough an aditionally comic light on Paley wh. I had thought before was hardly possible
