From Lord Monteagle to Horace Darwin   24 March 1873

My dear Horace

Frank tells me you are come home, but I stupidly forgot to ask him where you were—prob. at home—anyhow that’ll find you. I am a thoroughbred brute not to have written to you at Cannes for I have absolutely no excuse.

F. told me you were somewhat better—do tell me how you are & what you’re up to. Can’t I see you somehow before Easter? I spend my time between this & St’ge till I go to Ireland in passion week. Perhaps after all you are in London—I have a sort of dim recollection your people were this time last year.

I am rather played out tonight it being 11. P.M & I have just been to a concert not unadorned by Royalties. So good night. | Yrs. | M.
