From Emma Darwin to Horace Darwin [10 June 1873]

L.H.P.

Tuesday

My dear Horace

I hope you got Leo as you expected. You wd be v. jolly & I trust Frank wd be out of his troubles by Monday— I conclude that he will not know his fate at once— F. got your letter all right. George came yesterday is tol. We go home on Thursday morning v. early

F. has been very dead & uncomf for three or 4 mornings & gets a little better in the P.M. We had a pleasant sight of Effie & Mr F. They rode over one P.M. & looked as happy as need be, Effie merry & charming as usual— Geo. goes on w. his map & has drawn it most beautifully & he is now hard at work at his cousins board with a large drawing to make a diagram of. It is such a blessing that he can work however bad he is— Dr Clarke says he must go on just the same— He has added raw eggs to his diet & that is very nourishing. Dr C. speaks confidently of curing him—

It will be very nice having u on Friday. We expect Litches & Laura Forster on Sat.

yours my dear old man | E.D—
