I’ve just got your 12d card forwarded on to me here, I have been meaning to write for ever so long as I had a message from Newton to give you, but Lenny has done so, so that is off my mind. The only Cam. news I have is about Mr. Jackson which is also what you want to know. What I heard was that it was a child & not an ovarian tumour, which seems an odd thing but is very good news, but I suppose there must have been something wrong as well, but I did not hear any thing more; I was only in Cam. for a few days. I expect I shall be here for some time, the first part of my job was to have been done in a week to today according to Mr. E. & I have been 8 days & have hardly begun, I should not be supprised if it took me 3 weeks, Mr. E. says I shall be 2 months over the second job & if the rule holds good I may be 6 months, but I do’nt mind as I get a guinea a day & my travelling expenses. I am designing a self recording machine to record the pressure of water in the mains for Mr. Easton, which I think is rather nice   Mr E tells me to get it made. The use of it will be to find the flow through the pipes, as of course if you get the pressures at two points some way apart on a main of known size, & if we know the difference of levels between these points, the loss of head can be found & so the flow calculated.
