April 12

My dear Mr Bradshaw

I am very much obliged to you for the trouble which you have taken.2 The letter seems to me a real curiosity. I hope that you will give my thanks to the learned Rabbi who translated the letter.3

Yours very truly & obliged | Charles Darwin

The year is established by the relationship between this letter and the letter from Naphtali Lewy, [26 March – 24 April 1876].
CD had sent Bradshaw the letter from Naphtali Lewy, [26 March – 24 April 1876] to have it translated from Hebrew into English (Colp and Kohn 1996, p. 1718).
The rabbi has not been identified; his translation follows the letter from Naphtali Lewy, [26 March – 24 April 1876].
