To Federico Delpino   25 April 1876

Down, | Beckenham, Kent.

April 25th/76

My dear Sir

I thank you very sincerely for having sent me your Rivista Botanica.1 I have looked through all the headings & puzzled out the general bearings, & have had some portions translated to me. It is a very useful publication & I much wish that I could read it all. I observe, that as on many previous occasions you heap much honour on my head.

Believe me with great respect, my dear Sir | Yours very faithfully | Ch. Darwin

Delpino evidently sent CD his annual review of botanical literature, Revista botanica dell’anno 1874–5. CD’s copy has not been found, but Delpino’s review of 1876, published in 1877, is in DAR 132: 5.
