To W. D. Fox   4 June [1856]1

Down Bromley Kent

June 4th

My dear Fox

I write one line only (for I have been writing till I am quite wearied) to say that a Dorking Cock, more like an ostrich than a simple fowl, arrived this morning; & I presume from you.—

It is a splendid acquisition, & I thank you much for it.— It will make a grand skeleton.—

I hope all is well with you.— | My dear Fox | Yours most truly | Ch. Darwin
