What wealth of knowledge you have!—   But I have hardly read the extract about Drosera;2 as we are in much distress, my poor eldest daughter has had a relapse.3 We cannot return on 26th to Down.— Excuse me at present | Yours very sincerely | C. Darwin

From entries in Emma Darwin’s diary, it appears that Henrietta Emma Darwin became ill with a stomach complaint late on Sunday night, 21 October 1860, and experienced intermittent attacks of vomiting for over a week.
