Thanks for your note.2 You are bold man to print 1500 copies, & I hope to Heaven you will not repent it.—3 I shall want about 50 copies for myself.—4

Murray’s letter has not been found.
Orchids was offered for sale on 15 May 1862 (Freeman 1977, p. 112). In the letter to John Murray, 21 September [1861] (Correspondence vol. 9), CD warned Murray that Orchids might have limited appeal.
