From Charles Kingsley   10 June 1865

Eversley Rectory, | Winchfield.

June 10/65

My dear Sir

Mrs. Kingsley1 & I send you many thanks for your photograph; & my one in return2

Yours ever faithfully | C Kingsley

Kingsley had requested CD’s photograph in a letter to CD of 30 May 1865. CD probably sent the photograph taken by his son William Erasmus Darwin in 1864 (see Correspondence vol. 12, letter from W. E. Darwin, [19 May 1864] and n. 8). This photograph is reproduced as the frontispiece of Correspondence vol. 12. The photograph of Kingsley has not been found in the Darwin Archive–CUL.
