My dear Mr. Darwin

I think that Joseph progresses on the whole towards recovery2—but it is certainly very slow progress, & he is very susceptible to the weather— today being very mild and damp, with heavy rain in the morning, has not suited him, & he is not quite so well— he is, however, downstairs for the first time, & sitting in the study— I hope a few days more may see us at Yarmouth—

The Hookers went to Notting Hill on 2 September (letter from F. H. Hooker, 6 September 1865). There were two Mondays between 17 August and 2 September 1865: 21 and 28 August.
