My dear Sir,

I shall be delighted to see you on Monday about 10 a.m. Early on Tuesday morning I shall be off (like De Chaillu’s Troglodytes calvus) to look after my nest amongst the trees.2

Mivart refers to Paul Belloni Du Chaillu and Du Chaillu 1861 (see also letter from W. W. Reade, 21 February 1871 and n. 8). Mivart was having a house built at Wilmshurst, Fletching, near Uckfield, in Sussex (see also letter from St G. J. Mivart, 31 January 1871).
