Feb. 29.—

My dear Jenyns

Very many thanks for yr long letter.2 I was heartily glad to hear a little news of you & your doings.

I am much obliged for the various facts which you have given me, & which will all be of use. I will look to the reference about the nightingale which I had forgotten, but I had a dim sort of feeling (& this has proved right) that you had attended to the subjects mentioned in my note.3

I shall never forget, as long as I may live, the happy hours which I spent with you at Bottisham.4

Believe me my dear Jenyns | with many thanks | yours very sincerely, | Ch. Darwin

I believe I have the reference somewhere safe to the case of the magpies.5
