From Thomas Beddoes to Davies Giddy   13 January 1805

Dear Giddy

I shd be glad if it falls in yr way that you wd call at Carlisle’s (Surgeon, Soho Square) & get an answer to the inclosed – if inconvenient, you can send it –

I wrote to him before It is very likely he may not choose to lend any thing – there is no harm done – but if he will, I shd like to know soon –

I know enough about yr sister’s state to be sure that there is great chance of mischief – the scale of good may preponderate – Better or worse she must be – though it may alter slowly, especially if for ye worse – she had the cachectic complexion of a person with diseased viscera or viscus – If she continues with child, it will not be seen till ye end of 9 months perhaps – If not, it will be bad, I fear, morally & physically – I am

yrs truly
