TALBOT1075

Pregiatissimo Signore

Translation:

Most valued Sir

I am returning to you the Desfontaines accompanied by infinite gratitude. It will not be possible for me to come to you this evening at the arranged time since I have been summoned to attend an audience with the Treasurer, who as I told you is the Rector of the University, and is to talk to me on matters related to the gardens. I regret this greatly but I hope that I shall succeed in making this visit on another evening and perhaps even tomorrow.

I have the honour of being

At home
