Dear Sir,

I return take the liberty of transmitting your account as it stands at present, retaining £10 of the caution money as is usual in the case of M. As.

I hope you intend to come and exercise the privilege belonging to that rank by voting for Lord Palmerston. 1 I should hope that his good disposition to the Catholics will not weigh with you as an argument to exclude him, & there appears to be no other exception to be taken to him in the comparison with the other candidates. Believe me, dear Sir, yours truly

W. Whewell
