My Dear Henry
Gwynne 1 is just come from London & has brought us no note or message from you, which is a disappointment I found here a letter from Louisa 2 by which I see they still expect you at Bowood. 3 It would be right to let Lord L 4 – know you are prevented going there at present by your journey to France & if he will give you leave you will go there at Xmas instead. She says many kind things of you in her letter. As you may miss this by being on the road I shall leave a letter here for you, which pray ask for, to tell you of our movements. You will be glad the change of air has done me good, tho’ the weather has been muggy and much against me.
After all was arranged for Boulogne & the foreign written for to Calais & sent we are obliged to go by Calais on account of the tides, which prevent our landing on the Quay & I am now well enough to be tossed about in a boat
