My Dear Henry

It is very odd you have written so seldom since you have been in Switzerland I dare say all our letters will get there just as you have left it, as they did to Berlin & Corfu. You had so much to tell us, as we see by that specimen Caroline 2 received this morning, dated 20th September, which makes us long for the Col de Balme & the Grand St Bernard, & the Lake of Awncey which was always an object of my desires, you should have written me a description of it. We shall be at Moreton 3 when you return to England, & pray come there to us, & then we can all return together to the old Abbey, which will be very snug.

Horatia 4 had such a violent return of the whooping cough after Blandford Races, that we were seriously afraid her chest would be affected, & even had thoughts of Spending the winter at Torquay or even at Marazion, but the mild climate of this place has done wonders for her, & a [illegible deletion] Physician who lives at Truro, who has cured her with Prussic acid!!! 5 The base idea of spending so many long months at any of these tiresome places, has made me look upon L. Abbey quite as the Land of Promise, the very Haven where I would be.

Horatia herself would be much better placed at Home where she would have so many more occupations & now this Leech says it is the Spring he dreads for her much more than the winter. However at present her progress is most satisfactory, she is grown fat & quite another creature to what she was when she came here near a Month ago. We shall write again as you desire to Dieppe & Brighton.

Ever Yrs aff

Will you go to Feuillet’s ( Mr F. 6 says) & blow him up about a cup & saucer I bespoke covered with Abeilles & which he never has sent, Mr F. says (he Feuillet) has the Memorandum which he can refer to, & the worst part of it is that it is paid for which you may neal7 to his recollection
