Dear Mr Talbot
I am quite ashamed of having allowed your very obliging Letter 1 to remain some days unanswered, but I shall trust to your kindness to forgive me, without filling my paper with apologies - I am very sorry you should have thought so many necessary for my not gaining admittance into your house; I can assure you I was not the least annoy'd by the refusal; I saw perfectly the Reason of it, and I lauded your Servants for their adherence to your Orders.
I should remind you of your promised visit, if I was not going from hence immediately. - Should you pass 2 thro' Winchester in the beginning of the year, you will find me there, and very happy to see you -
I beg my kind regards to any of the family party who may be assembled at Laycock believe me to remain, yours very truly,
Jane St John Mildmay
