Thun 1
10 oclock
I have been breakfasting a second time with a good appetite. There is plenty of room. The road is excellent, & no hills. I came unexpectedly on the town, when I thought I was four or five miles off. The view of the Jungfrau & other snowy mountains is superb especially sometimes; – they were all quite free from clouds this morning. You see nothing of the river or the lake till you get here; the river flows before the inn but there is no appearance of any lake. After breakfast I shall sally forth & look for it. Dr Vose & family who have been stayed here a fortnight, pronounce this inn in the Stranger’s Book to be the best in Switzerland –
