My Dear Mother
I am going to Highclere 1 tomorrow for a day or two, & shall very likely be at home Saturday or Sunday. I staid four days at the Grange; 2 the party consisted of Lady Lyndhurst, Mr Baring Wall, 3 Mr Coesveld who married a daughter of Sir Thos Baring’s, 4 & a Roman Catholic young lady Miss Tichborne – I saw today a beautiful M.S. of the Bible which was lately found in the wall of the Cathedral in 3 vols. folio hidden perhaps at the Reformation or in Cromwell’s time. 5 It is not at all injured by damp, the illuminated pictures are as bright as ever. The interior of this cathedral is one of the finest in the Kingdom.
I hear the dinnerbell which obliges me to conclude
