TALBOT1859

Lowther Castle 1
Saturday 19th Septr

My Dear Henry

It is very extraordinary you have not received a letter 2 I wrote you from here on the 11th forwarded by Ld Lowther 3 to the Post Office Bangor & which therefore you ought to have received on the 13th at latest. I think this should be inquired into, either at Bangor or of the Post Master General, [illegible]. In that I told you our plans & that we should leave this place to day. It appears you have not had Lord Lonsdales 4 invitations, but as you will be so near it would be a thousand pities not to stay & see this very fine place and Mag. House. If you get early to Penrith, I am desired to say you had better come on here, if late you had better sleep there & come on Wednesday morning. One of those days Lord & Ly Lonsdale 5 are to be at Carlisle races but they do not yet know which, but Ly Freder[ick]Bentinck 6 will however, as she does not go to the races, & she says she will do the honours of the Castle to you, & hopes you will stay here at least to see Ld & Ly Lonsdale on their return, & as much longer as you can. We are going to day to Corby Castle Mr Howards 7 25 miles off near Carlisle, & I will write you word from there Our future plans as they are not quite decided, but ones letters are to be directed Post Office Glasgow.

They are all very kind here, & good natured, Car & Hor 8 are extremely sorry to go. Another invitation from the Lonsdales home to London after you, which I suppose you have never had. You need not write to any of them because you are now expected here either Tuesday or Wednesday - They dine here about six

Some letters for you that have been waiting here for you, are left in Lady Frederick's care. I shall write tomorrow from Corby

directed to you at Lowther Castle

Henry Fox Talbot Esqr
