Fordell 1
Thursday night
My Dear Henry
I did not mention who was here, because there is nobody you know or ever heard of, & so if you are amused where you are, it is quite as well to stay there, only I concluded you were ennuyé – la mort 2 by this time. I advise your coming to Hopetoun House 3 on Saturday, by which time I shall have announced you. It is reckoned one of the finest places in Scotland, so at any rate you should see it. But as you were so restive about Rossie Priory, 4 of course I said nothing [missing text] your coming to Lady Hopetoun, 5 not knowing whether you might choose it. I believe we shall stay there till Monday or Tuesday. Louise Frampton 6 is worse & they begin seriously to think of going abroad – They should have set out a month ago.
Afftly Yrs
