TALBOT1999

My dear Talbot

Many thanks for the loan of your microscope, 1 which, as you say, shows opaque objects most splendidly, when illuminated by the Sun light. It has not put me out of conceit with my little affair which exhibits transparently quite as well now, and which I do not despair of adapting successfully to opaque ones.

You would do me a great service by exciting Mr Cary 2 now and then, and giving him the benefit of your opinion on his work.

Yours very truly
H Coddington

Airy 3 showed the fixed lines in the spectrum most satisfactorily with your Prism, which I have now in safe keeping for you.
