After you left the Athenæum 1 Yesterday evening I had some further conversation with Strutt about the society we were talking of & upon examining the address which they have published found its objects so totally at variance with the views we entertained in common with yourself & several others whom we had spoken to on the subject that we at once gave up the idea of joining it & consequently of meeting tomorrow at Strutts – I looked for you to communicate this but you were gone out of the Club House.
