TALBOT2185

Chippenham 1
May 10th 1831

Dear Sir

I duly received your favor of the 6th Instant, inclosing a cheque on Gundry & Co 2 for £67 · 19 · 9, the receipt of which I am sorry I neglected to acknowledge per return of post – I have also received your of yesterdays date & will attend to your request. –

With respect to the Songs included in Mr Alexanders 3 bill, I beg to say, that when I found the Copies printed were very limited, I gave directions for printing additional Copies, thinking they deserved a more extensive Circulation – the extra Bread I alluded to was given to poor Persons residing in the Tything of Allington in the parish of Chippenham who did not attend to receive Tickets. – I know you was [sic] averse to the giving away Spirits Beer &c but on your friends forming themselves into a Committee they thought it adviseable to hold a Meeting at each of the Public Houses the Landlords of which they considered your Friends, in order to keep the Party together, these Meetings I attended as your Agent and some liquor being drank [sic] which was not paid for, I consider myself responsible. –

I have paid all the bills for which your Cheque was sent me. –

I remain Dear Sir Yours very obediently
Wm Wilmot. Junr
