My Dear Sir,

I have drawn up a short paper on the Cypriote inscriptions which with the sanction of the Council I propose to lay before the Society of B. Arch^{y 1}

I have the pleasure of sending you a copy by todays post.

I am only the interpreter of the German scholars Moriz Schmidt, Deeke and Siegismund, ² but I have carefully examined their writings and verified their Statements and conclusions or else sometimes Endeavoured to correct them –

I wrote to M^r Cooper ³ our Secretary, but have received no answer which makes me think he may be gone abroad for his health, if so he has probably left a deputy to transact the business but I do not know his name –

Hoping this paper may interest you, & believing that these German researches will be new to many members of the Society
