TALBOT2385

Mount Edgecumbe <sic>,

14 July 1832

My Dear Mother

Caroline 1 has been driving me all about in the pony chaise the weather is pleasant and the place looking beautiful. The towns of Plymouth and Devonport are an ornament to the landscape, which I did not imagine they could be. This is owing to their grey colour, not red brick, like most English towns, & to their great extent which has the air of some metropolis.

Direct to me at Lacock and let me know if I am invited to anything very particular in London, if not I shall go for a few days to Cowes.

I arrived here last night and stay today & tomorrow I must go on Monday to Chippenham 2 to see some of my friends at their desire, which is a great bore; I think I shall leave Lacock again on Wednesday morning, for Cowes.

Your affte

Henry
