My Dear Henry
This place is in the greatest beauty. I forget whether you ever were here. It has always been the depth of winter when I have been here before – what a difference does that make! Lord C 1 – says he wishes you would come here whenever you like – he stays till some where about the middle of September, when he goes to visit the Porchesters 2 at Pixton. He wishes you to give a message from him to Lady Mary Cole 3 to say that now she is so near him as Cowes, he hopes they will come on here. Mrs Villiers 4 departed this morning to meet her daughter Mrs Lister 5 at Southampton to embark for East Cowes Castle.
If it was not for the Gallweys 6 I should prolong my stay here. Horatia 7 enjoyed her “first day in the Country” extremely – the weather is beautiful.
Mr F. 8 is still in Town, & remains there till Saturday
Ever affly yours
