My Dear Sir
In case you have no one to your taste whom you wd wish to nominate as chaplain wd you allow me to say that there is with me a very agreable – gentlemanlike & clever man who is now acting as my coadjuter, his name is ye Revd E H Thompson 1 – and as I feel sure that he wd esteem it a High compliment to be nominated to such a place so do I feel equally sure that you wd find him a pleasant sensible companion on the occasion.
Hoping that you will excuse the liberty I take in mentioning the subject
Believe Me Yours very truly
John Guthrie
