My Dear Henry
I wrote immediately to inquire when I saw the List of new Dep. Lieutts 1 and Lord L.'s 2 explanation was that the List was made out long ago before he knew your determination & that you would be in the next. I am charmed to hear your Party went off so well.
Niemcevitz 3 seems to be an heir loom of Sackville Street. 4 I never remember such a stormy February, The Equinoctial Gales make a mistake. Some of the Men are to day clearing out & preparing the ground for the Nursery the rest are finishing the Fences as I told you. I hope you were properly grateful to me for saving you the trouble of concocting refusals (which is always unpleasant to oneself) to those two letters which were comically ponderous even to the enclosures for the twopenny post!!! I suppose you should answer something to Mr Moore 5 tho' the matter in question is settled - Poets you know are genus irritabile 6

Do you know anything of Bernay's Lecture which is put down on Treuttel & Wurtz's 7 bill? 28th last January, when you were in town & we were not.
