TALBOT266

Sunday March 7th

My dear Henry

There is a tax paper lying for you since the 2d – of which doubtless you have a duplicate at Lacock – Would you write a line to the office, 6 Waterloo Place Edinburgh1 to say that you make your return at Lacock Abbey? – or shall I certify to Mr Fraser (the Surveyor) that you are at your Country Seat in Wiltshire, 2 and cannot therefore fill up the paper delivered to your address 4 Athole Crescent? 3 They address you as Charles Talbot, but I suppose that error does not excuse you from noticing the Paper – and the penalty is £50Ì if not returned within 21 days of the date – 2d March – Thanks for your letter received yesterday.

Your affectionate
Constance
