My dear Sir

I have sent your letter in to M^r W. R– Cooper ¹ who will lay it before the Council

Owing to my official position I am prevented from taking any part in a memorial addressed by the Trustees – as the rule is that the report addressed from myself to them contains my views on the subject – and any thing else must proceed from other quarters. When you have thought the matters over perhaps you will find that you can add to the quantity you propose to translate or the Volume ² will not be able to appear by Christmas which would be detrimental to the issue The whole it appears must contain 170 pages.
