My dear Henry
I have only a moment to say that Horatia 1 is much better to day, though she had a bad night. Mr Kendrick 2 has tried the local lamp Bath with her which has done wonders for her but she had is not able to move yet without three people, so that I cannot foresee when we shall go

I quite forgot that Gwynne 3 some time ago begged me to tell Constance 4 that Fanny 5 wished to ask her leave to go to see her friends for a week, at any time it suited Constance, who I suppose she was too shy to ask herself, It must be while you are in town & Betsey there, because Fanny cannot leave the House afterwards when she is seule gardienne. 6
When do you think you shall come down?
The weather is scorching, & the grass brown & burnt up.

Mr Moore 7 came here last Saturday on the faith of your being here (which was to have been) & owing to Horatia’s illness we had not thought of telling him you had altered your plans.
I am afraid this whole week’s stop in Parliamentary business will make the Session traîner en longueur 8 & you will not be able to get away the 1st July
