Monday July 7th
My dear Sir
I trust you will excuse my troubling you and asking you whether we may calculate upon your attendance at the committee of the Great Western 1 to day but in consequence of the great exertions which are making by our opponents we are under the necessity of ascertaining exactly our strength in order to govern our arrangements.
The committee meets at twelve as usual – and our convener will finish his speech about one o’clock when the committee will divide – we hope also that it will be convenient to you to remain after the division in order that we may get through the 4 important clauses upon which the bill 2 might otherwise be defeated.
I remain dear Sir Yours very truly
I K Brunel
