My dear Talbot
Since Emily wrote to Constance, 1 & which letter we hope she will have read before you open this, our worst fears have been realized respecting my poor Mother. 2 She quietly expired soon after 3 o’clock today, without having appeared to suffer much since yesterday. Of course we could not be prepared for so sudden a blow, yet I am thankful to say my Sisters have borne it admirably & my Father 3 is tolerable. Pray break this to Constance as quietly as you can, as she has not altogether recovered her accustomed strength. Give all our tenderest loves to her & believe me
Ever yours sincerely
