TALBOT3285

[fragment]

I have had some Iris Sisyrinchium sent up which flower beautifully in water – How do you distinguish Iris, Moræa, [Marica?], & Sisyrinchium? They send up too magnificent bunches of Edwardsia tetraptola 1 –

Among humbler plants we have Allium pendulinum striatum, vernale, neapolitanum, Ornithog. byzantinum, montanum comosum, umbellatum, & another of those little dwarfs so difficult to distinguish, from the Adriatic. It is glaucous, channel leaved, umbellate, but not exscape, smaller & consistantly [sic] two months later than the true exscapum – is it nanum of Sibthorp? 2
