My dear Henry
You have sent me Allium carneum, subhirsutum, pseudoalbum. the latter may be A. vernale or ciliatum which I know but little – A. Bertoloni I gave you, I believe its true name is striatum. Yours is Euph. dulcis of Florence that so called at Vienna is I am sure a different species. You send Eupho. portlandica or segetalis – Hedysarum obscurum – Orobus variegatus & another unknown – Vicia sordida, ochroleuca, polyphylla, your Euph. serrata is doubtful the true is a very peculiar habited plant. Cochlearia draba, Erysimum from Vienna Dianth. Carthus. true/ All. fragrans fine a pale Veronica –? Serratula –? Iris hæmatophylla – &c &c Is not æthionema only Thlaspi saxatile? I see too Geranium umbrosum lilac Lathyrus – from the Arno near Florence To my delight I find Vicia pimpinellifolia of Mauri 1 from Albano – I think your garden promises to be interesting this summer – are you coming?
