My dear Henry –
after I wrote Tuesday night Papa 1 complained of pain in his ankle & it was discovered that a discharge had taken place there, where it seems Mr C. 2 had suspected for some days that matter was forming This may account for his having been so very restless & agitated for the last few days – It has certainly appeared to relieve him, tho’ in consequence he was extremely weak yesterday & Mr Bowling 3 was afraid he might faint & gave him a great dele deal of wine & brandy & nourishing things – He has had a good night & today they think him a little better – the tongue & pulse both improved – As to the swelling above the knee it is much in the same state – but he complains less when the leg is dressed which is a good sign – Mr Bowling still remains here – Caroline 4 went to town this morng with Ld V. 5 who goes Saturday to Leamington – & she will return here – Bimbo 6 comes today as Ld Mt E. 7 is going tomorrow to Mt Edgcumbe 8 – Addio caro 9
