Monday –
My dear Henry
I think you will like to read Caroline’s 1 letter to me as well as that for yourself. I had one from Horatia 2 yesterday enquiring whether I had had an answer from Mlle A 3. about which I wrote to her last Thursday – This seems to shew that letters were not forwarded to them from Sackville Street 4 to Brighton – I am glad I took your advice in keeping the letter itself as I should be sorry to lose it – My answer is finished & going today – Mlle D 5. enjoys dining with us very much – it is certainly good for her – and her manner is very pleasing.
The Trahernes 6 did not go today, which shews that they are comfortable – I took them out driving today in Lady Elisth’s 7 carriage. We viewed the improvemts at Mr Sotheron’s 8 & afterwards got out & walked in Spye Park 9 – and though the weather was cold & gloomy they seemed to enjoy it very much – We fill up the evenings very well with Albums –
I believe they go away tomorrow morning early – I hear there is mischief at Chippenham, 10 on the Railroad – That a bridge is injured & only one line open ed for traffic. Therefore the Trahernes mean prudently to start from Corsham. –
I forwarded a letter to your yesterday from Malta.
Your affecte
Constance –
